Treading Water

It’s an AWAC

Wow, amidst the murk, this flew over us the other day:

SAM_1062

AWAC = Airborne Warning And Control (System).

Quote from Wikipedia: “These planes are designed to detect aircraft, ships and vehicles at long ranges, and perform control and command of the battle space in an air engagement by directing fighter and attack aircraft strikes.”

Aw shucks, so it’s not got a rooftop terrace with a great view and a colour co-ordinated parasol after all. Be a bit naff sat up there when World War 3 kicks off anyway…

It flew over the marina several times, that’s one heck of a lot of ships canal boats to ID. Must be why it took so long.

Imagine the classified intelligence communication:

“Sun Seeker to Base: We’ve identified which one is Takey Tezey.”

“Base to Sun Seeker: Stand down, repeat stand down, just checked the blog source. The occupants are moving to Spain and you’re supposed to be looking for a submarine.”

“Sun Seeker to Base: OK, repeat, OK.”

“Base to Sun Seeker: Get your act together and stop playing Angry Birds.”

“Sun Seeker to Base: But this beast I’m driving piloting IS an Angry Bird Sir.”

“Base to Sun Seeker: Did you win?”

“Sun Seeker to base: Sure did boss, took the whole network down.”

“Base to Sun Seeker: Great work Captain, sod the submarine, your medal is in the post. Over and Out.”

NOTE: Dave reckoned they were attempting to locate an undercover crap carp in marina waters…
