A Different Kind Of Christmas

In the spirit of this festive time:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all…!

Or, as they say in this corner of the world:

Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano Neuvo me Amigos…!

This year, ours is not the traditional Christmas we’re familiar with, far from it. There’s a party scheduled for tonight, and on the big day tomorrow, we’ll be down at the nearest beach with our friends.

So imagine this, several of us with cool boxes full of food and drink to share. Stood, or sat, or even laid out (depending what time it is) on the “playa” in glorious sunshine. Choice of plonk: Champagne…

We’ve been told there’s the likes of music, dancing, and fireworks later on. The Spanish and expats from many nationalities descend there, and the former certainly know how to put on a good party!

More importantly I forgot to ask about portaloos being provided, may will need one at some point or other. Nope, I’m not prepared to crouch down in the sand,, just one wobbly leg could turn that into an extremely painful experience… TMI?

So it’s set to be a L-O-N-G day or three of fun and games for hours on end. No need to retrieve Aunty Betty’s matching china tea service from the dark corners of a cupboard, we’ve got designer plastic cups and matching paper plates…

The only extra thing we could both wish for is that family and friends of ours (for years) be with us, or us with them…

On the bright side, we’ve found a “secondary” family of friends here. We all had an extremely silly discussion about how that works one night down at the bar… For some strange reason I can’t remember much of it though…
