Look what met us as we walked down our road today:
A horseshoe whip snake…
Must’ve wandered outside it’s comfort zone from one of the many valleys nearby. Thing is, we’d walked through one of them earlier, neatly manicured with a nature trail, it’s a shortcut we might think twice about using in future…!
Here’s the start of it…
Further in…
And this is the beginnings of another well maintained valley the other side of our road…
Not to worry though, the horseshoe whip snake only eats small vermin and is a sign of healthy vegetation in the area. The worst it could do to us humans is a non poisonous bite in self defence, but it would prefer to slither away out of sight.
Get real, they’re our neighbours! Even so, it’s highly unusual to find a snake in human territory. Dave got a long stick and tried to lift it back to where it belonged, but it wasn’t happy with that so we had to leave it be. Sadly it’ll probably be dead tomorrow from dehydration…
Looks like a really nice place to wander around in!
